Be Prepared.
This one may seem like a no brainer, but some of our customers are not fully packed and/or organized when we arrive on moving day. At Cary’s Moving we provide full service moving and packing. If you elect to do the packing yourself, please do as thorough of a job as possible, and have it finished prior to your mover's arrival. This is the BEST way to save money when hiring movers as we can make quick work of an organized house.
Get Wired.
Untangling wires and properly disconnecting electronic devices such as receivers and cable boxes can add to your final time and bill. To save time disconnect and pack away all electronic devices before moving day.
Box it Up.
When packing, make sure that the top of every box is closed and taped shut. This allows your movers to move stacks of boxes on their dollies much faster than carrying each individual open top box. This will also allow them to load and stack your belongings in the moving truck efficiently.
Bed Time.
This is a small task that can really add up especially in house moves with 4+ beds. Cary’s Moving has the experience and equipment to disassemble and re-assemble furniture you need moved; However, if you are on a budget, this is a great way to save time and money. Most beds can be disassembled with a screwdriver and/or a set of allen wrenches.
It’s a Wash.
All you need is a pair of vice grips and a screwdriver to save yourself time and money with your move. Starting with the washer, all you have to do is turn off the water, unscrew the water connection hoses, pull out the drain hose, and unplug the power cord. The dryer is even easier! Use a screwdriver to disconnect the silver colored exhaust hose and put it inside the dryer for transport, then disconnect the power cord. Cary’s Moving is always more than happy to assist you with this task, but it is just one more simple thing you can do to save time and money on your next move.
Cover Your Basis.
Before hiring a mover, make sure they are licensed and insured like Cary’s Moving. If you hire a mover that is unlicensed or uninsured, and they damage your belongings or an injury occurs, YOU could be held responsible. Hiring a licensed and insured professional moving company like us will ensure this won’t happen to you.
